How invites.blog handles the information you and your guests share with us.

What we collect

To send invitations, we process the guest details you upload (names, and email addresses and phone numbers where you give them), along with the content of your invitation and your host contact details. When guests add photos and videos to an event, we store them with the name the guest gave, and any comments and likes on the event’s page. We also keep the details of your account (your name and email, and a one-way hash of your password, never the password itself).

When you pay, we record what the payment was for, its amount in MVR, its date, its status and the bank's reference for it. We never receive your card number, expiry date or security code: those are entered on Bank of Maldives' own payment page. When you buy the Premium pass or Venue, the bank keeps your card on file for the renewals, and we store only the bank's reference to your customer record there.

How we use it

Guest information is used solely to deliver your invitations, personalize each one, and report delivery and RSVP status back to you. Your account details are used to sign you in, to email you about your events and payments, and to apply what you have paid for. Payment records are used to deliver what you bought, to show you your billing history, to handle refunds and disputes, and to keep the accounts the law requires. We do not sell your data or your guests’ data, and we don't use it for advertising.

Retention

An event’s photos and videos are kept for 90 days after a free event, or a year with a Party or Wedding pass, and a year more each time “Keep your photos” is added. After that they are removed, and we email the host before it happens. The invitation, guest list and replies stay with the event until you delete it. You can request deletion of an event and its guest list at any time. Payment records are kept for as long as the law requires us to keep business accounts, even if the account is deleted.

Sharing

We share data only with the service providers needed to deliver invitations (for example, email and payment processors), and only to the extent required to provide the service. Card payments are made on Bank of Maldives' payment page: we receive whether a payment succeeded and its amount, never your card number.

When a venue runs your event, the venue and its staff can see and manage it like its host: the guest list, replies and the photos in its albums.

How we protect it

Everything sent between your browser and invites.blog travels over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Our database is not reachable from the internet, and only our team can reach the systems that hold your data. Only you, and the people you give access to, can see your events, guest lists and photos. Card details never reach our systems at all; the bank's page handles them. More on the Payment security page.

Stored in your browser

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser keeps your sign-in and a few preferences (such as light or dark mode) in its local storage so you stay signed in; signing out removes your sign-in.

Your choices

Guests can opt out of future messages for a campaign. Hosts can remove guests or cancel a campaign from the dashboard.
